im having like a real problem here. I made an animated anim8or model in the scene part its animated and all, and i exported it as a .3ds file. i load it in to dark basic, yea that works and all, but it loses its texture and then it wont even animate. so then i try the play object number command that doesn't work. then i tried loop object number, that still doen't work. Is animator not a good tool. well if i still wanted to animate my model using the same one i made in anim8or, whats a free program i can export it in to use it for? thanks a million!

you cant export animations from Anim8tor. If you expotr to 3ds it export only model and UV data.
Once actarus was posting link to some free utility which should expotr animations from Anim8tor but I did not manage it to work since it was in French.

Here is that link:
http://pascal.peter.free.fr/ ..look at 3D section
or email to author: [email protected]

if you dont understand french you might try Babelfish translator http://babelfish.altavista.com/translate.dyn

...and tell me if it was working for you, I dont use Anim8tor anymore but many people here do, might be usefull for them too.

sorry but anim8or does not export any animation or texture into any format, which is why i switched from it to 3d canvas pro which is better, more powerful, more tools, and should have all the features you need

I've never had problems exporting textures in anim8or.

(1 + 2 + 3 + 4)^2 =(1^3)+(2^3)+(3^3)+(4^3)
100=1+8+27+64

It is somewhat ironic that a program called Anim8or does not, in fact, animate anything

Could be that something is wrong with the copy of Direct X you have, that happend to me once, I got it from game CD but I then had to go and dl it from their site because it gave me errors all the time.

Are you sure it installed correctly, and all other versions of Direct X were deleted. Don't pass this off as me assuming you're stupid or anything, it just that I have had lots of experience with Direct X not working and it always turned out to be something simple, like a bad version, or remnants of other versions not deleted.

Try reinstalling Direct X 9, it should come up with a prompt that says "Do you want to overwrite previous versions of Direct X?" or something like that. Click yes. Tha should probably work.

goto run (windows key + r) and type in dxdiag, then click ok.
it should tell u which direct x version you have on the first page, right at the bottom.

something that it might be, is your copy of 3d canvas old, if it is it might not know about direct x 9 / 9b and therefore recognise it as another direct x version.

hope this helps
