im thinking about using .avi's to represent one of my ships being hit by an expolsion. but they always display a black backround. is there a better way?

-im using just d basic no d basic pro

Use textured and ghosted plains. I have created an extensive example with graphics and comments in the Code Snippets section. The thread is called "Explosions and Special Effects Demo". It should show you everything you need to know including explosions, smoke, debris, shockwaves, etc... Just ask me if you need to know anything else.
