Dear community

Tell me if I am being unreasonable here, but can't there for once be a straight, solid answer for the ever-nagging question surrounding importing converted models into DB?

I am (and prefer) using 3dsmax and I've tried all the converters and exporters and plugins and good old family recipies that are out there (even used other 3d apps like milkshape as intermediate) and the closest that I get is either a model that has no animation when it's imported, or sometimes there is actually animation, but all u can see is a bundle of arms and legs all crossing over eachother at a common centre point.

I am quite proficient in max, thats not the problem.and im picking up DB rather swiftly.the problem comes between those two steps.
Im not even using mesh deformation for now.Just some cylindrical arms and legs floating slightly away from the body with the pivots at the shoulders and hips will do.(also tried using dummybox links between arm and torso)

Please! if someone could direct me at least toward a tutorial that can show me the process.from 'best way to animate' to 'best exporter/plugin to use' (but I'd like to start with 3dsmax)

like I said, tell me if it's unreasonable to expect this, but I've worn these posts through in search of some coherant answer.

much love

I am using 3ds Max 4 and have yet still to successfully export a model to dbpro that animates. I have tried all sorts of suggestions/conversion utilities but no luck.
I want to export to .X format, but I THINK (Well I'm pretty sure actually), that the file XSKINEXP.DLE (part of DIRECTX) has bugs in it and needs to be amended and re-compiled, but I do not have the wherewithal to do this. If you ever get hold of a compiled version PLEASE let me know>
