It may not of crossed your mind also to use that option on Start button menu called 'Help and Support'. Run that, type 'desktop cleanup wizard' into search box and voila, a full description.

Boo!

Agreed. That thing really gets to me, I disable it by unchecking the box but it makes no difference! And once it's enabled there seems know logical way to stop it. GAH! OH SHIT, IT'S HAPPENING AGAIN...

Exactly what I said!

Things I don't like

- overtype
- cAPSLOCK (though in XP you can set it to make a beep when its switched on, what I use)
- sticky keys - argh! Hit ESC too many times when DBPro crashes and wham - Do You Want TO Turn On Stickykeys?

I'm pretty sure stickykeys has a 'never ask again' option, so I don't see a problem there

The problem is it doesn't work, I have had it pop up four or five times. After the first time the "never ask again option" was selected

In Xp, go to the Accesiblity menu in Control panel, and uncheck the Use Stickykeys box. Then you also have to click the Settings button, then uncheck the Use Shortcut box. After that, you should never see stickykeys again.

All these things are hideous abominations. Sure they might be useful to some people, but do they really have to be set to "on" as a default setting?

The only one of these "features" i've found useful is mousekeys, which lets you control the mouse cursor with the numpad. Useful when your mouse falls off the table and you're too lazy to pick it up.

rather than all these useless "tools" maybe MS could create a spamproof e-mail system, I would also like to mention that the help system informs you that desktop cleanup wizard is wonderfull and then tells you how to use it DUH!, surely anyone that thick they need instruction on using the wizard AND think they need to use it couldn`t use a PC anyway? (well...without their keeper).
