i got a quick question about sprites. do they tend to slow games down alot. i made 1 for a HUD but now when i placed it into the game the games slowed down ALOT. Im gonna try setting the width lower on it, right now its at 640,480. is that the problem?

in dbc, mixing 2d(sprites) and 3d causes alot of slowdown, best to used textured plains locked to the screen for huds. but in dbp it shouldn't be much of a problem so maybe a smaller image would help if you are using pro..

This made alot of people very angry and it has been widely regarded as a bad idea...

I noticed the same thing only that I am making a pure 2d game in DBC and it still lags the heck out of it... could maybe a compressed image (like .jpg, .gif) solve the problem?

Heads up display I believe. In any Armored Core or jet fighter type game, the HUD is like where it shows your life, armor, radar, and the like. This is mainly seen in first person games, not sure how u can see it any other way.
