Cyberflame,
I won it on the retro compo and, much like Froggermon I have no use for it - so your welcome to my version. Doubt you'll read this again so I'll email the details to you tommorow.

Cyberflame,
I need an email address to send the registration details for Canvas, if you want you could email my hotmail account and I'll reply with the details. Or do you have an LLRGT account, I could IM the details to you.

You have to download the latest demo version then register it to download the rest of the full version.

Well, that's a wide open question with a slight stench of piracy.

There are tons of free modellers out there. The better question is what kinds of things do you need to model and how much skill do you have with 3D creation?

My two favorites extremes for free modellers are DoGA CGA and Blender 3D. DoGA is a dirt simple 3D studio and kind of works like virtual Technics or Lego. L1, L2, and L3 are all free downloads. Blender 3D is also free and is very feature rich. But, the last time I looked it had an interface as complex as a jumbo jet.

If you're a gadget guy, go with DoGA and eventually move up to Metasequia. If you want to have more 'Pro' tools, go with Blender 3D and the understanding that it has a steep learning curve.

JTEdit is more like a serious modelling package and it's free, DeleD is also pretty nifty for a free package, then there's anim8or too.

Blender sucks, sorry - but for DB it sucks.

Doga, is not even a propper modelling app, it's more limited than lego and for DB it also sucks.

I wasted a lot of time on those pair before I got a decent package.

Hey codemaster, I've been talking about this one a lot, mainly because a really nice video series was just released for it. And here it is.....
trueSpace3.2! Argh...moan..yeah. I like it for some reason, and it just made sense to me, and it might make sense to you. Look for it on download.com then register it at Caligari.com, and check out http://www.kidzonline.org/teachit/3D_DV.html# for the tutorials.

Blender 3D now has python scripts for exporting .X so it might be time to re-evaluate it for use with DB.

DoGA delivers exactly what you put into it. I use custom textures and parts and have advanced well beyond 'stock' DoGA. It has direct export to .X (and simple triangluation for patch 5.2 users.) It's low learning curve makes it much more accessible than almost any other graphics program out there. It is a starting point and not a destination. Way points along that journey include Metasequoia (a proper low level modeller) and animation tools for .X such as Milkshape or Character FX.
