Did you use this Code:

You also have to change the number when you have multiple music files in your code. Hope that helps.

steps to "help my music"...

1) Make sure speakers are on
2) Make sure soundcard is working
3) Make sure you have something ( DX ) that will interface with the card
4) Make sure the sound file actually works
5) If not, get a new sound file, repeat steps 1 -> 4, else, go on to step 6.
6) Make sure the sound file format is supported by DB.
7) Make sure that if it is supported, it is in the correct format ( for example, some types of mod files might not play etc )
8) Actually code the thing to play...

9) Then and only then post on the forums asking how to "help my music".

Follow those steps, and you'll have a nice soup-pie in a matter of minutes...

Jess.

I've ran into this problem. I've got a Soundblaster Live! 5.1 card, and if I use the soundblast midi devices, neither DB nor Windows Media Player play the midi, only Quicktime works. I then went in and switched the midi device to Microsoft GS WaveTable Synth and it worked beautifully.
I'm guessing new/old drivers or a codec.....or maybe a bug? Probably not though.

Hmmm...

Irish fool, plz could you tell us what format that music is in?

And what does Windows Media Player actually DO that Quicktime DOESN'T by not working?

For that matter, what does Quicktime DO when you try to open that file?

If your PC/laptop/thing is underspecified (e.g., my old PC), I've found that (personally) the 'Load Music' and 'Play Music' commands dont produce any sound..

And do us a favour, and click Start > Run and type in Dxdiag will you?
(If it doesn't work try C:\windows\system32\dxdiag.exe on XP, ME, 98 and 95, *OR* c:\winnt\system32\dxdiag.exe on 2000 or NT)
(And if that doesn't work
YOU DONT HAVE DIRECTX INSTALLED CORRECTLY!!!!!! (so reinstall))

In dxdiag, click 'Save All Information...', save the text file somewhere, open it up, press Ctrl+A (to select everything) followed by Ctrl+C (to copy it), before coming back to this thread, posting a message and in the Message: box pressing Ctrl+V to paste everything. Then click Post Message.

(About the above technique... I just wanted to find out some more info about your machine )
