I'm just wondering for those people who use DoGA L3 for modelling , if anyone knows how to convert Multi-Join objects > Direct X properly and convert DoGa L3 Action files to Direct X? I've already been to Doga support and asked this but have had no reply.

You should post in the DoGA English BBS for significantly faster response.

I have asked Team DoGA for some white papers on the action format, but I have not gotten a reply. [English to Japanese translation via web site are a crap shoot.]

There is no automated solution yet. All the files are plain text, so it is theoretically possible to make a conversion utility.

What I usually do is export each of the separate part files as an .X object. I then open a program like Milkshape 3D and load each of the objects in and re-assemble the character. From there, it is fairly easy to attach each of the object to a skeleton and begin the animation process.

If you have the skills to make a conversion program, I'll do what I can to help. Reading 3D animation formats and creating .X animation from 'scratch' is not my cup of tea, but I can translate more of the L3 help files, if you need them.

I have Milkshape, I convert the DoGA object files to DXF then put em in there, I just can't get a good effect as I do with DoGA. The move like Robots in milkshape :S guess I'l have to practise then for now

Cheers!

I have all three Doga Lseries but I need to register L2 and L3 , I must say they are geat although I haven't put in into Dark Basic as yet, I have put it in 3D SAD I..I mean 3D RAD and they worked fine considering THAT package. I can say that the animation in Doga is very smooth but I am still trying to work out the multi-object animation movement as well, have you tried or got Poser 3.0 OR 4.0 for animating humanoid or animal or robot models? I need to be able to animate hovertanks so I will have to register Doga L2 and L3,

What I do is break the the mulit-model to bits and then using Deep or 3D Exploration export it to Poser, then built it up in there and animate it in there.

Just a side note, registering L2 or L3 will allow you to render movies. It won't change your export options for animation. That's a shame since I like the key fram animation in DoGA. Truspace has key frame animation, if Milkshape does not work for you, you might want to give it a try.
