Another stupid thing, but I thought it could be good to see how noobish peoples first posts were. Mine is disappointingly un-noobish to be honest , but RPGamer gave me my first reply, thanks RPG :p. I know some people were here before these forums, but I suspect the majority weren't. This post will probably sink but it's worth a try.

p.s. To find your first post go here, or use the drop-down box at the top of the screen, and go to the last page, your first post will be down the bottom.

i have 2 pages of threads that I started (not bad for 2600 total posts) I can see the first page fine, but selecting page 2/GO causes this db error...

Quote: "There was an error connecting to or querying the SQL database.
I'm sorry but I have had to abort this operation. Please try again or contact the Webmaster."

I got a DB error too, try using the "next" button.

My first ever post on Madmerlin was asking whether a matrix could be wrapped around a sphere to create a Populous-alike effect.

I swaer it said that somewhere in the DB help files

"They misunderestimated us" - George Bush
"The box said 'Requires Windows 95 or better'. So I installed LINUX. "

I asked Dr Av how to do the "Marble madness" type code he had for his game (I forget the name). Think was about August 2000 after lurking for a bit.

Think the next 500 were basically replies to people who couldn't do split screen properly in the original DB (shaky shaky if you didn't).

Cheers

I am 99% probably lying in bed right now... so don't blame me for crappy typing

I like to post my second thread because it's a lot more un-noobish.

My first post was in the showcase for my first DBP game, Pegz3D. I remember only two people replied, including TCA (formerly TAToad).

Well, my first post was a bit of a letdown, I found a problem in one of the original DarkBASIC tutorials on the old site. I explained in a lot of detail how one number magically changed to something that made no sense. The one reply I got from QuothTheRaven was:

Quote: "you're probably the first one to go thru that tutorial step by step. Congratulations on finding that error "

To this day I still have no idea if that is a sarcastic remark or a compliment.

My first post here was for the DB world map, my first DB related post would have been about 5 forums ago on the old black and grey ones - I think I was asking for a mountain bike model.

My first post was on the old classic forums back when DB was quite new. I had dial up at the time and was quite new to the concept of forums and as a result ended up signing up with my real name when I wanted to use a handle... These days of course I dont feel the need to hide behind an alter ego anyway, i'd much rather flex my own ego

It was a short and simple post saying my new game was released, which was "Space Corps PC".

Because I was such a forum noobie I never managed to find the post again and see if anyone replied.
