Im torn between about 3 development platforms.

I am an experienced programmed, and gamer, having coded on/for LPC type muds for years. I am also the same Archaegeo that was responsible for the HCR add-on for Neverwinter Nights.

Now I want to use a 3d package to make a MUD type game. I am torn between: Torque ($100.00 allows 128players max as shipped), Gamestudio A6 Pro (199.00 allows 4 players max as shipped, would need to upgrade to commercial for 899 when ready for more), and DarkBasic Pro (99.00, unsure of max players as shipped).

Any thoughts on which of these would fit that sort of creation best?

Well, as far as I can tell in the CLASSIC version it's 255 max, so pro is probably more.

Same amount.

Archaegeo, you might want to stick to asking this question in only one place so that the answers are not scattered about. Most of the Good Sam's that haunt the forums read multiple sections so multiple posting is just a waste.

Well... If you were making a huge MMORPG, then you could have each map on one server, and just switch servers at each map switch, but the programming for this would probably be so amazingly crazy I don't even want to think about it. But yea, then, technically, you could have 255 players on each and every level in your world.
