This is kind of interesting... I have NO problem making mesh-deformed models that animate fine in DBPro...

today I went to try and make an "old-school" limb-based model in Milkshape and ran into a problem/something I don't know how to do.

I made the model up of several different groups, one for each limb. if I export using the DX 8.0 exporter, the model loads fine, and I can use the rotate limb commands to rotate the individual groups. the problem is that all of the limbs rotate around the object origin.

I want each limb to have it's own pivot point... does anyone know how to do this in Milkshape? I know how to make bones, and how to assign vertices to bones, but that's for making mesh-deformed models...

Any help?

have a look at this animated cubic animated centaur in milkshape.

built with Ms3d 1.66a

export without bones if your using dbc and dont worry if your using DBP.

I reccomend the JT exporter tho instead of the dx8.0 one.

everyone seems to like the JT exporter... but I've had no trouble with the dx8.0 one, especially with mesh-deformed models.

models exported with the JT exporter often give me "cannot load 3d object" errors in DBPro. I guess I need to take a look at the export options more closely!

I'll take a look at that model as soon as I get home, thanks indi!!!
