What's the best way to go about creating, and texturing a landscape.

quad 10k terrahert cpu| 9k^9k terrabyte(tb) hd|stolen military graphics card capable of rendering all of the pixar movies in 5 secs|999^9k tb of ram

A) Make a model and use NG DLL for collision
B) Make a matrix using Mat_edit - www.matedit.com

This is probably just me but I find matrices to be a little slow in programs in addition to the fact that they can look very blocky. I recommend using something like Total Terrain, then using a heightmap reader to convert it to a .x and like RPGamer said using NG's DLL to check collision instead of using GROUND HEIGHT and all that nonsense.
