[b]I am stuck. I'm trying to code a soccer game to rival the likes of FIFA (yeah, in my dreams). I've created a stadium and pitch for my demo version, but I've hit on a snag. I can't model my players, due to not having .X files. I haven't heard of any programs that create this file. So, I would be greatful if someone could give me the program, or tell me where I can download it. Thanks

Correction, if you haven't heard of any, you haven't looked.

Since character animation is a requirement: search the web for Blender 3D, trueSpace (I'd suggest version 4.3 or higher), Milkshape 3D, and CharacterFX for starters. There are others, but I'm not an animation guru.

A good place to start would be Milkshape from:
http://www.swissquake.ch/chumbalum-soft/ms3d/download.html
There is a 30 day trial and it's very cheap if you do decide to buy.

Or for a complete freebee try JTEdit from:
http://www.jtgame.com/jtedit/jteditmain.html

Good luck

Also, you may be one of few that likes trueSpace...you just don't know it yet...... lol jk.
trueSpace's interface is strange to some, but awesome to others. I like it because you get this big open window and then you can create multiple side/front/top views, and the polygon editing feels more natural.

Check out http://download.com.com/3000-2186-10187913.html?tag=lst-0-1 to download trueSpace3.2

Then register it (for free) at http://forms.caligari.com/forms/tS32_free.html

Here's some pretty good tutorial videos:http://www.kidzonline.org/teachit/3D_DV.html#

I like it a lot....and I like gameSpace even better. But then it's not for everybody. Check out Milkshape and JTEdit of course, also Blender, Z-Modeler, Doga, Metasequoia, 3d Canvas, gmax, and bunches of others. Try a google search.
