I'm using a free program called anim8or, and I can make many models in it, but the only forms of export are 3ds, obj, vtx, c, and an8. The only things I've seen in the tutorials so far are x models, and this program doesn't support that. Can any of these be used in Darkbasic?

3ds can, but you can convert them to X format too. You can use the bundled converter with DarkBasic if you need to.

Hi
The help on the load object command says you can use X, 3DS, MDL, MD2 or MD3 format. I've tried some 3DS and they just cause my screen to go black. Probably something i'm doing wrong though.

Not all file exports are created equal nor do all 3D import routines support all the features of a given format. The most stable formats for DBP are the DBO and .X formats follow by 3DS and the various game formats. The parser for 3DS can be notoriously slow as in taking many long seconds to load a model. If you don't have it, the 3DCONV.EXE program is a handy and free tool to convert 3DS files into .X format. In the program announcement section, you can find a DBO convertor.
