Does anyone here use 3DSMax 5. I am making my level in Max 5 and did this:

but after 3ds max bakes the textures with RENDER TO TEXTURE I get this:

Did this ever happen to anyone else? Is this some kind of bug or am I making anything wrong?

RENDER TO TEXTURE was a godsend. I knew it was too good to be true

Edit:
I've been playing around with it and it seems that RENDER TO TEXTURE doesn't work properly where textures blend. If you look carefully at the pics you'll see that the problem is the blending bewtween the textures inverted. I am using a grayscale mask to blend the textures and if I remove the fading from the mask it works fine. Any suggestions? I'll have to get my hands on MAX 6. Hopefully this will have been sorted out.

Take care

This is definatelly a bug, but i've managed to get it working. The problem is that the texture is rendered correctly in the virtual frame buffer but the texture that is saved automatically by RENDER TO TEXTURE is the one with the problems. I use the saving button in the virtual frame buffer window to save that image (the correct one) over the defective one.

I realize I just had a monologue but this can always be used to help others. Thanks anyway

Take care

Contact Discreet, that's what I do. If you've paid for the program and have a valid product license, they'll assist you in working around this if it is indeed a bug. Their support is really great and they're quick to respond. They also have toll free phone numbers.

get rid of the uv map after you bake it.

make a copy of you file before you try it just in case.
