Hi, i just finished my Beta version of my own dos, which i wrote in dark basic to prove that you don't just have to make RPG's.

that's pretty cool, but WHY would you make DOS in DB?

BTW- It would be REALLY cool if you made that into a game. IE- A hacking game or something...

Dude that ROCKS! I sooo miss DOS... still have an old 486 specially for Doom, Duke3d, Worms, Themepark, Lemmings, X-Com and many other classics I can't bear to part with

well it doesnt work for me but it would be impossible to write an OS in DB cos its way too high level and depends on the Windows API, components and libraries. plus it uses DirectX which is a windows componenent

hehe that was the basis of the argument when I named mine DBOS.

the conclusion was it was a file browser/manager unlike variants in they hey day like xtree gold or something just more dossy like.

it uses components but cant use DirectX coz its a component? speak english man

I s'pose i should of explained what the program was for before i posted it, it wasn't designed to be an operating system, im only 15 i aint gonna start writting stuff like that, where the inspiration came from was, when winXP was first mentioned, there was a rumour that they had completly removed the dos shell, i thought that people would still want to be able to use a similar program (like myself for instance, but when winxp was released it did contain a dos shel prompt (or so im told) but by then a backup use had occured, dos can be disabled on computers, like public ones, so i figured it could be used as a replacement, but then the computers i was going to use it on don't have dirx 7.0 so its useless. anyway, thats the history of the program and should clear up any confusion.
