Hi

I have been looking into many game types to try and find one that I might want to do. An arcade flight game has always stuck out in my mind as fun and I wanted to create one using DBC, everything would be fine and dandy except that I have no earthly idea how to complete the flight physics. I have not even started the game but I just want to know how I would do this because this could be a major obstacle early on. I need to know how to create flight physics for taking off and landing, and falling when the throttle is off. I am also mind boggled on how to make it so that the plane keeps moving forward at all times unless it is stopped on the ground or has crashed. Any help would be appreciated, I am not asking for the code but rather an indepth explanation of the commands needed and how the process would be done.

Thanks.

PS. once again I am not trying to get "flight sim" quality physics here but more of a fun arcade flying.

I've coded somemething like that (trying to find it) but I remember that I wrote the basic lift physics as it was air resistance (which is not all wrong)... The greater the air-speed the greater the lift acording to some wing-shape constant... I'll post some code if I can find it...

Currently coding: MAG

thanks that would help alot! I am very confused on just how you create gravity so that the plane will lose altitude if the gas is not being pressed.

Basically you could have the plane (or the level, depending on how you want to do it) always scrolling like the old arcade shooters. Then, you just have a command that always moves the plane downward. Then when the player presses the gas, have the upward movement received from the gas greater than the downward gravity movement.

I am still confused. I am looking for something similar to Battlefield 1942 flying but maybe a little less complex. The only problem is that I am not very good at coding and this is something I have no idea how to do. Anyone know how to create plane physics similar to BF1942
