I want to get a new proccessor but i was wondering if i have to upgrade my whole motherboard or can i ust get a prosseccor and it plugs into where my old one was?

depends what processor you have, what processor you want and what the limitations of the current mobo are. Need more info.

usually the type of motherboard including its fsb can dictate the cpu speed.

eg: a bx motherboard only goes up to about 500mhz where as my asus clus2 can go up to about 1.2ghz


supply the mobo details for a more accurate picture of your highest cpu speed or look in your reference manual
