Alright, I've decided to create this thread so that i can display the artwork that i create for my games and for people who would wish to display the in-game artwork that they have created, such as sprites and backgrounds. I'll start. Here are the four that i have so far. I know that i have posted 3 of them before, but i am just wanted to post them to start out this thread. The quality of them is a little bit better in the actual game, but i just converted them to .jpg so that they would load better. The flame one was created by my friend jonathan.

You can post anything that you have made. It doesn't really have to be in game. If you made it and you wanna show it off, just post it here. I would really like to see some of the work that you have done underlord. I really like the art that you did morloc, can't wait to see the finished product.

Looks like a digital tron tank with some cool neon camoflage (spelling?). You'd dissapear in vegas, but stick out anywhere else.

Did you keep it in 2 pieces so that you could rotate the turret?

Its one object. The game that i am using it in is 2D, so I just use a bmp of the object in different positions and have the sprite change accordingly. But when i start to do some 3d games, i can just cut it up into two objects and make the turret rotate.

Quote: "It's really disturbing and alarming how the crushing waves of anime to hit North America has robbed our youth of the abillity to develop their own style.

Deviant Art is perpetually flooded with never ending submissions by young artists featuring anime style artwork. While I appreciate how anime inspires young artists to draw, sketch and paint, it's disheartening to see all their efforts poured into copying someone else's style.

Hopefully as these artists mature and develop thier tallents, they'll feel the need to expand their horizons by exploring thier own style.

"Just say no to big round eyes and outragiously large triangular mouths." - Tapewormz"

@Tapewormz: o_O Is it that bad? What I'd say is, "follow the genre, but use your own style." If it's anime, it's anime. But it's your anime. Gets?

Very nice art Tapewormz... You have a lot of talent there.

Here are a couple of pictures from me. Tho I am lousy at drawing, I use 3d packages and cheat.

If you go down to the woods today.....

A little movement blur on the head worked nice.

A FemBot. Bryce was used in this. I did a tutorial on it too.

Title:

So, where have YOU been all night?

A take on the Lazarus / Mummy. Bryce and Photoshop were used.

Thanks Underlord. Actually I thought after my rudeness that youd well flame me! Thanks for not doing that.

Anyway, thay were a bit strange to draw because I want to use rotation in my program. That means I have to do proper plan view orthographic projections(a top down view), which are a bit boring, so I cheated and drew them like this. I think they will work when rotated on their centers.Ive got to do some more, and Ive got to do portraits for each one, so Ill keep this updated.

It helps to set yourself goals like getting a certain amount of graphics drawn, then changing and moving onto a different aspect of the project. My next job is to write the graphics handler for all of these. It will play these frames while the charachter is idle, and when it moves, but fighting and dying and being hit (plus casting spells and special abilities)each will have assosiated anims. Ill post it when the code is done!

Most of the submissions I was complaining about are unfinnished pencil sketches of faces. There's alot of great stuff on Deviant Art, unfortunately, there's 5 times more crap than quality. Be it anime, or any other style... I'm just really bored of anime... Alot of people like anime just fine, but I like anime about asmuch as I like hugging a corpse... Which I haven't done, but I know I would hate it.

No its not real time. Its pretty much warhammer, you know the board game. But simpler. Im not sure that Ive ever seen any computer versions of games like that, which is why I wanted to make it. There is no ingame money management, all the players agree how many gold coins they have to raise an army, then they spend the gold on up to 50 soldiers, then slog it out in a turn based battle! Im not sure what it will play like, maybe it will be a bit too simplistic to be fun, but hey, Im learning to program, so its all cool!

So far ive got the army selection and the movement working.I just finished writing the code for loading my images into sensible image numbers ready to play/ Next Im going to work out the collisions, then Ill do the code for handling which frame of animation is playing. Its got plenty of bugs, but for my first program Im surprised how robust it is! Programming is fun!

that army sure looks good. And I like the game setting too.

But don't dis DA just because there are sooo many anime drawings there. Anime does suck, as it is like the style used in 70% of the drawings in there. and it should be like 5%. Then it could be good.
The thing about deviantart is that there are nearly 5 Million entries there. Of course there's a lot of crap in there too. You just have try & skip those.

What a sec, I did recently do a splash page for Fire on the Suns: Elder War. I may also do some manga style line art for the same project later on.

http://www.geocities.com/tzircher/ew_splash.htm

EW is being written by Brad Clarkston, I'm just pitching in to provide some artwork for the rules.

Created with DoGA L3. Fire on the Suns is a play by e-mail space empire game and Elder War is a campaign that Brad is writing up for it. The basic story line is that two ancient races are using the player controlled races as pawns in an interstellar war.

Just a heads up, it is not a computer game even though computers are used to play it. PBEM games are a different animal. You can find more info at the official web site. You can also visit the FOTSCOM-L group and download the rules there. And, if you're more interested in FOTS-lite, you can find the Cluster War rules on my VirMin/TCOM2 gallery.

Being a player is a general freebie since you can download the rules for free. Finding a GM can be tricky. You can buy the rules and programs for TCOM2 or the FOTS GM CD at the home page.

Just to keep this remotely Dark Basic oriented, check out Andy Igoe's Space Corps project. With any luck I'll be able to use it to create a graphical battle engine for FOTS or CW.
