Nice Work

Will do. Let's try and steer this thread back on topic...

The Renderosity contest I'm referring to was sponsored by FX Realms, producers of the Creater Creator series. With a little luck I'll place well enough to get some free software.

As Ajay can atest to, you can make some nice character and critter models with the program (actually dirt simple to do.) From there you can import the models into programs like Milkshape 3D and turn them into character models with skeletons and animation or you could use a tool like Metasequoia LE it to make quality sprites and splash page images.

I don't have any in-game art that is current, but just for fun, you can visit my game dev home page and check out the Fire on the Suns: A Blaze of Glory game design treatment PDF. It includes some concept art that may very well end up in my next big project.

Heres a link to a webpage that has plenty of sprites to use in a game.

http://www.reinerstileset.4players.de:1059/

I know its already been posted in the forums, but i thought it was approriate for this thread.

yeah there are a lot of them and there will be empty slots so that people can make their own races too but i haven't decided on a limit on how many races there could be in a game at once.

I'm not sure if DBP can handle that many AI's at the same time.

And i don't want any fake races there will however be some races you can't play, they are there to make the Galaxy an unsafe place for the rest of them.

That rather defeats The Holy One's purpose of trying to maintain game balance. Doesn't it?

that's why it would be a cheat code and not a feature

True, but I like to see it as a starting condition. I've written several space empire game rules and utilities as well as starship and powered armor design systems for tactical combat game systems. Having a point system that allows for game balance is a common feature that helps to insure everyone has fun. As a game designer, such point systems helps with fuzzy topics such as difficulty levels and handicaps.

How ever so good i think my AI code will be it will not be good enough so yes the extra races are for giving a cocky player a fight for their success.

And for bad players there is always the easy level.

It's turn based with RTS combat and it's more of a war game then a Sim building game.

I don't undestand why all 4x space games must have this house building in them.

I like war games. I'm looking forward to playin it. It would be cool to see multiplayer via internet. Just a suggestion. I know its easier said than done.

Turn based multi-player has turned out to be pretty easy to do. I haven't tackled real time yet.

The first thing that comes to mind is that this critter uses its tail for fishing and that the grippers evolved to hold on to fish. Eventually, tool using skills would develop...

You are spot on there zircher

The problem making aliens is that they must be able to manipulate different materials so they can build things like star ships, so how can i make a water creature get out into space by itself?
