Hi there, I have a question regarding the burning of video cd's...
I have a dvd player and want to play a movie that I have on my computer (divx codec). I could ofcourse connect the pc to my tv, but I want the video on a cd, so when I go anywhere else I can also view the video. The video is 300mb so should fit on a cd, but before I screw up a cd by burning a divx video on it I would like to know if a dvd player can even play this type of video (divx codec), or what I should do to convert it to ....?!

As burning program I have nero 5.0 (dunno if that's good or bad...).

If I remember rightly, DivX is a real pain to convert to Video CD because you have to rip the video + sound separately and then stitch them back together. I think you need two separte programs to do this.

That's IF I remember rightly.

i would also like to know the same thing as i need to burn some divX's to video CD to clear room on my hard-drive.

Use tmpgenc to convert to mpeg then use something like nero to make the vcd.

Nero will encode to mpeg and burn as VCD. Trouble with it is it doesn't mantain correct aspect ratio.

So I also use tmpgenc then burn with nero.

Remember not all DVD players can play VCD's.

my converted file won't fit onto my CD-RW(700 mb) how can i reduce its file size do i need a certain program.

tmpGenc is definitely the best final step. You may have to search download.com and other sites for an intermediate program to unravel the DivX.
