3 Dimensional Chat / Made a house in .x but now what?

Hi...

I have made a house and I want the player to walk into the house. But excately what do I do now? I can walk and walk in the house (and walls) but can anyone give me a hint?

Use load object to load the .X model into your program. You may also need to scale it to match the size of you player model, if used.

The solidity of walls is an illusion. You have to tell the player or camera to avoid the space taken up by the walls. This is usually done with collision boxes.

Can I make collision boxes in the .x file? But I also want to make stairs....

I think I need a tut about this

No, if you make the collision box around the .X file you will not be able to enter the house at all. Or, once you are in the house and inside the collision box, things will not work properly.

I'm not a level maker guru, so I'll defer to others. But, if I where to write my own level editor, I'd load in .X files as prefab components and then have the level editor place/create collision boxes that I would add for the floor, walls, and each stair step.

It sounds as a good idea to have a house build in components..... that will make it easier to designe the houses....

that is exactly what you need check arround the forum its a sickly thread and grab the code, it will treat a .x model's collision as if it were a BSP
