I am having trouble with my models i create in lightwave. Whenever I use Atlas UV mapping and then export as a directx model i lose the uv mapping in DB. If i export out as .3ds then the mapping gets messed up when i load it in DB.
I even tried Milkshape but when i import the .lwo file it says my uv map has holes in it and will not load the bitmap. Can anyone explain whats going on? i appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.

I tried to import the object into Milkshape 3D, but it says that it can not read a LW 6.5 object. Can you save the file in a lower version number format?

there should be a second option for importing lightwave models lower on the list. that is the option choose and it gave me the uv-map has holes in it message, but it still imported the model

Ok, using MS3D 1.70 and the second LWO importer I was able to bring the model in with minimal errors. I happen to use the color and specularity check boxes out of curiosity. It said that I needed to weld some faces, but that's a minor thing. I did loose texture mapping, but once you learn MS3D's texture editor it was easy to select the faces, open the editor, mark the region that I wanted and re-map the faces. I'll e-mail the MS3D file to you so you can see what I did.

Oh yeah, I also moved the model so that the origin was at the handle. You may want to move that back, if needed.

Thanks Taz,
I will play around with Milkshape and become a little more familiar with the texture editor. I appreciate your help
