I see so many people jumping on other for poor spelling. You have to realize that some are not native English speakers and others are just kids just trying to learn. I think this would be a nicer place if we watched our manners.

To do my part here is a FREE spelling program for the Internet Explorer browser. It works great for forums. Hope this helps!

Of course, if I was to be reeeally picky, I would say that realize in native English is spelt realise.

Which would suggest that your dictionary is American English, true English being native, of course, to England.

Please take this light-heartedly (have I punctuated that last word correctly? )

The world "realize" is perfectly acceptable here. And yes I am guessing it is in American English. But look I am trying to help here, not argue about different forms of English.

Thanks DarkWing, my fellow classic cartoon companion.

How about these...

The Lotus Notes dictionary does not contain the word Lotus
The Lotus Notes dictionary does not contain the word testicles
The Lotus Notes dictionary suggests that IBM helpdesk should be changed to IBM Helpless

Yes, I found these myself, including the second one.

I think you'll find that realize is the original English.

Realize is valid in current day English, but wasn't always. If you were to look it up in a British Commonwealth dictionary which adheres to "true English", you wouldn't find realize.

Here's another interesting one...

font is American, in English it is fount, but thanks to Bill Gates you'll never see it spelt correctly.

According to a friend of mine who knows everything about this kind of stuff, the 'z' spellings are correct british english (e.g. realize) and that the 's' spellings have become acceptable over time.
