Geek Culture / SPAM filters for Outlook and Outlook express

I have many clients that are moaning about amount of spam getting through our mail servers to them, the normal ones like enlarging various bits of your body, viagra, debt services, blah blah blah.

Anyone have any constructive advice or personal recommendations. Done some searching on Google and see there are lots available around the 20-30 dollars area and even found a few free ones (but they tag messages with adverts)

To add spam removal direct to our mail server would cost thousands as it deals with hundreds of clients and the licence is way out of our league.

Just wondering, is this an internal company thing?

If so then you should consider getting Outlook 2003, the filter on that is great, and with a dedicated spam folder (new messages there do not appear as being unread, or rather outlook will not ping, or display a notice at them, but will include the number of unread emails in the brackets.)

Whats so good about living anywho?

We host clients websites (about 100) and email on various servers but our clients collect their email from us via pop3 to whatever mail client thay have. This is usually Outlook 2000/2002 from old ms office or outlook express 5 or 6. Most clients are finally updating to winXP as they buy new computers. Some are still running 98 on archaic pcs.

I don't think any of them have outlook 2003 yet.

lol, ok then

I was kinda hopeing it was a stiff ass corporation which did not want the latest and greatest incarnation of office.

I have not had much luck with other spam filters, i have used norton internet utilities, which has a spam blocker, but it does not like being too cleaver, so 9 times out of 10 the real emails got spam tagged (Not real helpfull when replying to a buissness email haveing to go through and remove the spam alert tags from the headers and subject line.)

Whats so good about living anywho?

Thanks anyway.

In case I did not make things clear, we are not changing anything at the our end (too expensive). We will make recommendations to our clients to buy a particular product as most clients haven't a clue about anything technical!

As a rule we don't touch anything by Norton as their products casue more problems than solve them.

Oh well, back to Google...
