Here's a letter I sent to the editor in chief of CGW concerning their April 2004 issue.

Quote: "Regarding your blurb in large orange letters:

"Independent game developers justify pirating software tools because the vast majority of features go unused."

Of all the positive statements in your editorial, you chose to showcase the most negative one of the bunch. You didn't even have the decency to say "30% of indies surveyed". You just slapped it in the reader's face like a god given stereotype that all indies are ignorant thieves. CGW does not need that kind of journalism.

Does anyone else feel offended by that yellow journalist peice of trash that CGW has for an editor? No matter how nice the editorial may be, that side blurb was no accident.

I haven't seen the article but it sounds pretty trashy. You can make any bunch of people seem like a load of insipid a-holes with selective surveys... well, it goes to show you can't trust the press...

It's kind of sad really. I've had a lot of respect for CGW in the past.

Isn't CGW the same mag who put a porn star on the front cover?

That doesn't ring a bell. They are usually good about computer graphics news and articles with a good blend of Hollywood and game industry interest. I'm hoping that this is a fluke and that the new editor is not some graphics elitist snob.

Jeff Green still on the loose? Dang friggot, he's just a biased sanamabits. Some people don't realize that even big companies hire n00b people to use PS. Man, those people at K*dak sure love the gradient tool! Does that mean that it's okay if they pirate it? I'm not saying that they are pirating anything, but will it be justified if they do?

Just found the article by Geoff Keighley:

http://www.gameslice.com/editorial/0301gist.shtml
Quote: "Computer Gaming World
Have you seen the new April cover of Computer Gaming World magazine? All I can say is this: What a disgrace to the entire interactive entertainment industry. Someone at CGW decided to put an adult-film star on the cover with the tagline "Bite Me: Suck Down 3 New Horror Games." This is truly a disturbing cover image. When I purchased the magazine this weekend in Los Angeles, people were looking at the cover and rolling their eyes in disbelief. What was CGW thinking? I wrote them a letter about the cover that you can read here. I’d be interested to hear your comments on it. CGW should be ashamed of this cover which makes the entire industry look bad."

Also:

Quote: "It wasn't the magazine that would have Angel Carter on the cover, and promote her pornographic website on the inside table of contents page. 'Visit her website at www.bombshellempire.com' you say, without any mention that it contains obscene and disturbing pornographic images (natch)"

It says April but it means April 1999, so don't go looking at this months cover lol.
