I've started building my own little 3D mini game but as I decided to use somee of the FREE objects supplied with DB (TREE's etc)I found I had a problem.

I've loaded the object load object "tree.x",1
I've found the matrix height y = get ground height 1,100,100
I've placed the object position object 1,100,y,100

I thought they had inbuilt basic colours to them but I can't see them as I travel around the matrix.

I've even tried colouring them with color object 1, rgb(10,100,100)
and texturing them but they still don't apear anyone know why? shed the light on my what probably seems a really stupid problem?

Much Appreciated Trev..AKA Penfold

Check if there are textures files in the same directory as the .x file. If there are files, then copy the images to the same directory where your .x file is. (Textures need to be in the same directory as the 3D object)

nope no texture files just the models they seem to be basic untextured models.

You can find the models in DB/media/models/t/ if you have the same clasic version I have.

After a little swearing and some test coding to see exactly what was going on I found my problem....

Not all of the direct x files supplied with DB are to the same scale so I was using a monster of a character with trees barely bigger than his toe. a bit of rescaling of the trees and I'm now ok.
