Remember such games as zelda 2(Link). The screen would scroll left and right as you move. Not the field, the combat bit.

How would someone create that sort of effect?

You could create a massive BMP?(System performance)?

You could create multiple BMP's and show them side by side.(Again)?

And many other options.!! So many but slowww.
