I have gotten a complex model in AutoCADs 2005 DWG format. I'm not familiar with this fileformat, and I can't find it in Milkshape...

Anyone know of a converter to .X or .3ds or something? Anyone have any tips about this format - what you should consider if there is a converter, particularly if you want to use it with DBP?

Thanks!

try exporting from autocad as DXF.
if that ruins your polycount and creates glitches try the OBJ format.
The 3ds format can be quirky and some formats may lose your textures and hardly any of them retain the animations.

I don't have AutoCAD unfortunately. I just got a CD with this fileformat. Don't want to spend thousands of dollars on a package like this.

I guess I'll have to ask the people that gave it to me to export it to what you just said...

The last time I worked with a DWG file, it was a 2D schematic and rendered as an image in PaintShop Pro.
