just was getting sick of Office XP's outlook - so I downloaded Eudora 6. Very happy now. Anyone have any Outlook horror stories?

Just the fact that whenever I reformat my computer I always forget to backup my emails/address book. gah.

No, Im actually really happy with Outlook. However, I wouldn't mind checking out other Software; what is this Eudora you speak of?

you might want to try thunderbird http://www.mozilla.org/products/thunderbird/. its still in beta but looks pretty good; im gonna try it as soon as i get a POP email with my ISP.

eudora is a very old email client

pegasus is another.

I dont ever touch outlook even with a radioactive suit.

yeah, Eudora has been around for a long time but it is not to say that it is some old junky app. I am running the free version of version 6. It has everything that I need and does everything outlook does and more - but the advanced spam features and such are unlocked if you purchase the full version. Nice little app. I found it with a google search of "free email clients"

Well i got Offics 2003.

Much much better. Outlook has an excellent spam filter (i get 100+ spams a day and 3 or 4 real emails, it has not mess up once so far [it misses maybe 8 a day, but never moves proper emails to the junk mail box]).

The when reading HTML emails images are not downloaded unless you tell outlook to do so (more anti-spam).

Overall i am very happy with it

Whats so good about living anywho?

Is there any particalar reason why? Outlook is stable, has plenty of options, and overall is a good app.


what advantages does the other programs have over outlook? (can you list a few); Im actually rather intested.

from day one its been a nightmare especially macros and activex xontrols.

I prefer a mail client that leaves the messages in a folder as text files as well as one that not many people would use. makes it nice and easy to manipulate.

I used to use Eudora as well, it's a very good client- fast and stable.
I recently switched to Thunderbird 'cause it's more comfortable if you have various email addresses. Even though still it beta, I haven't had any problems with it so far.

Me, I'll sit and write this love song as I all too seldom do
build a little fire this midnight. It's good to be back home with you.

Tell me about it

I use Mozilla Internet Browers & e-mail client. Happy with both, although once XP SP2 comes out, I'll probably go back to using Internet Explorer and Outlook (unless the ad blocker isn't much cop).

I certainly haven't had any problems with Outlook - its stable, pretty fast and it does what it should do.


The place for all great plug-ins.
