Please send me your honest opinion as to what is better. In my case, 2003 all the way.

Have'nt played 2003, but the disk space (5.5gb) for the 2004 version is a joke and has got to be a record!

I have never played either game. So then, how should I respond?

Okay, 2003 - ALL THE WAY! Why? I'm not sure. Why not? A lot of good things happened in 2003, like when I got Final Fantasy X, or when I got DarkBasic Pro. Yes, UT2003 all the way.

No way would I support UT2004. In 2004 I lost the Alienware Game Competition. Yes, UT2004 is no good indeed. Also, Janet's Superbowl incident happened in the year of UT2004. No good at all. And, the whole world got mad at Conan O'Brien in the year of UT2004 when he went to Canada. No way in the World would I support a game with such a bad year in the title!

Hey, if you don't like games with the number 2004 in them, how 'bout NFL Madden 2004? Or NBA Live 2004?

Oooh, no way! I don't like football or football games. The only sports games I enjoyed was 1984 Summer Olympics on the Commodore 64. My most recent console games don't have 2004 in the title either:

Final Fantasy X-2
Devil May Cry (haven't played it yet)
Dead 2 Rights (It kinda sucked)
Splinter Cell - Totally Awesome!
MX Unleashed - Pretty cool
Zelda - Majoras's Mask (Gamecube port from the N64) - Very good Game!!!

I think 2003 is better than 2004. Mainly because 2004 is still shrink wrapped on my shelf (after a couple of weeks). Close call though.

Actually I liked the original UT more than UT2003. Mainly because of Assault, but just felt better somehow.

Cheers

My Alienware game was called Invaders From Earth. I didn't get in the Top 10, but I did get an honorable mention.

Here's a link to it on the forums:

http://darkbasic.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=23349&b=5

Here's a link to it on the Contest Gallery Page:

http://darkbasicpro.thegamecreators.com/?m=showcase_view&i=214

Overall, the contest was a very good experience. I think this forum is most alive when a contest is going on! I checked the Work In Progress board constantly to see how the other entries were coming along.

I am sorry that they didn't put that game into the Top 10. It deserved much more than an honerable mention. In fact, I would rate it as the 2nd best!

I prefer the original UT. But UT 2003 is still worth playing, I haven't tried 2004 yet.

Eh, I hate that term.[/quote]

Likewise, all haxor, leet etc really bug me.

Personally, I prefer UT2004 over UT2003, but thats because of Onslaught. Deathball was what kept 2003 alive for me, but since its being ported to 2004, I doubt I'll be playing 2003 much anymore.
However, given the Unreal series are my favourite series, I have a few gigs of mods, maps etc, I'll still play 2003.

What I do want though (hint hint for any UnrealEd mappers), is CTF-Control from UT99 to make a return. I LOVED that map.

Also, UT2004 has more features (Voice over IP etc), so you dont have to read everything that gets typed, or if you have a mic, just say it (very handy in paced games).

But, the thing that makes UT2004, is the leviathon. That vehicle rocks so much.

-_- ugh, looks like I may never keep my vow that I'll never return to Apollo. Gotta try harder...after this post...

Well considering 2003 and 2004 were my first UT games (and FPSs since Goldeneye) I'm not sure if I can fairly rate them, but here it goes:

I would have to go with Unreal Tournament 2004

Its great, graphics dont seem much better from 2003, but its still great. I love the music (as always) and I love getting the lightning gun and running to great sniping spots. People say that the lightning gun was a bad replacement for the sniper rifle. I also wanna guess that in previous versions of UT the sniper rifle didnt have that annoying smoke cloud (my team would have won that assault match easily were it not for that damned cloud). So in my eyes, the lightning gun is still better. I have yet to encounter any vehicles though...and I really wanna get into one and rain havoc down on the arena, but they all seem to be hiding from me. I was pretty happy to see the maps from 2003 in 2004 and I wanna hope that I can use a few 2003 maps in 2004 (aristocracy and 1 on 1 lighthouse would be two that would make me want to use em in 2004).

I suck at the game, and I'm still playing against really easy to beat bots, but I still have fun with it. Too bad I can't play multiplayer without horrendous lag with my 56k (just gotta hope my mom gets a seperate dsl or cable connection for me). Overall, I give it a 9/10.

Cheers,
Preston

[Edit] Just tried aristocracy with UT2K4 and it works great! HAPPY DAY!!!

Now to add an additional complaint about the game, its 5.5 Gig requirement is just batty. Wish they knew some of us could barely spare 3 gig let alone 5.5 gig. Had to uninstall Neverwinter Nights for this game -_-

Well I haven't played UT2004 yet, so I guess I have to say UT2003.

Off topic:
Haggis, ah, not to be rude or anything, but there is something I would like to point out. It is called the "Edit" button, I personally find it annoying seeing 4 or 5 posts in a row that could be edited into one post.

Just a suggestion that I really think you should take seriously.

TobyQuan - Why did the whole world get mad at Conan? I know here in Canada the Quebec people were offended, but that's about it It's fun to make fun of the French Canadians, though, so it's okay!

Well, the sniper cloud in 2004 is so very evil, it can greatly decrease your chances of winning. Also, how many bombing runs have you played before you fell asleep? That is why I will always hold 2003 over 2004!

(Edited)
I also have another problem with 2004. Where are all the great maps that everyone enjoys the very most? I mean, their new maps are great and all, but nothing like the origional!

Dude, wtf are you talking about? The sniper was removed completely for 2003!! And with the maps, not only does 2004 include EVERY map from 2003 but also some of the originals as well as the completely new ones. Finally, if you didn't like bombing run in 2004 then how could you have liked it in 2003? They've got the same maps!!

It goes a whole lot faster on Unreal Tournament 2003, because the 2004 edition takes up 5.5 gigs or something like that.
