Ahh, I'm guessing I'm not the only person here to sit watching their firewall wishing they could bitch-slap the monkeys pinging at their door.

You just know it's someone who wets themselves at any sort of confrontation, probably a virgin, probably get's his face smacked every day for being a flange. Some geeks deserve to be picked on!.

This day and age you've got to have protection. I run a firewall, virus scanner, two pest detection programs, and only use web based e-mail at home. I get about a half dozen sync scans and new tear attacks a week so I know the bad guys are out there.

Where's Echo Mirage when you need them?

the day I pugged in my Linksys router is the day the firewall stopped getting hit. I am on a linksys that does NAT conversion and I run a software firewall. This pings, scans, sweeps and other nefarious traffic never reaches my firewall because the router just deflects the traffic. Even if you don't need a router, they are so cheap, you should pick one up and just connect thru it - but make sure it does NAT or there is no point.

I use a Netgear router/adsl modem/firewall thingy and like CattleRustler says, I have set it to ban ALL incoming traffic. As a backup measure also using Windows XP built in firewall on all my network and internet connections. Wireless stuff has all sorts of encryption and lockdowns in operation. Touch wood, nothing has happened to my pc or any of my flatmates pcc since setting this up.

All I now get is stupid emails that try and get me to open the dodgy attachments. Yeah right. AVG antivirus picks up on most of those.

Boo!

thats the thing I have a fire wall, ip masqueraider, virus protection , honeypot and spyware protection also really paranoid about all downloads etc.. and it still got me.

I think I can recover the OS without re installing. Some programs are still not loading. Getting real intimate with my registry settings as of late.
