When on the net i dont mind popups too much cos sometimes they are useful. but what really P155£5 me off is when programs are installed on your system without u knowing - i wouldnt mind if only they asked first!. The first one i got was 'Weather Bug' it was one of those that are constantly trying to dial out so it could give you the weather in USA(im in england). The last one i got was from 'Golden Casino' which when i uninstalled damaged my system and caused/is still causing loads of errors.

my games are only as good as the people who play them...
so if my game is crap then its your f******g fault!

Get yourself a decent firewall package and change your IE security settings, because nothing installs without you knowing about it - unless you've let it.

BTW change your signature text.

I know the feeling. At least GAIN (the company that makes Gator) askes you, but I was on this one site and in the little bar it said it was installing stuff, so I closed the window.

I hate C-Dilla. It installs on your machine from some programs with out telling you they are installing it or what it is.(I know its for protection of products). I think i got it from Video Deluxe and when you unistall the program it wont unistall with it. You will have to remove it from remove program files.

C-Dilla is weird. A really complex, supposedly unbreakable security package that people cracked past in under 24 hours anyways.

you know what gets on my nerves? when people write "ne1" and "cos" and "u" on forums where typing speed is not important.

Or you can use Mozilla Firefox which has a built-in ad blocker AND spyware-free Google toolbar. And Rich is right--- *nothing* installs without asking you first---- unless you let it.

Well some viruses overflow your memory buffer so it can be executed. so in effect it has installed its self onto your computer without you knowing.

If you get spybot and look at the list of spyware within, you'll notice google toolbar...

Why on earth do you consider the Google toolbar as containing spyware? because it bloody well doesn't. It DOES contain the PageRank feedback feature which it ASKS you about during installation, but it definiely does not include "spyware".

EDIT: Moonshine, I think Rich's comment was directed at me

@Richard Davey - You're right about this 'now', but their privacy policy used to not even outline the fact that their software sends every page you visit back to Google. The reason it does now is because Alexa was sued for not outlining it in their privacy policy.

Also I don't like how the Google toolbar auto-updates--- for me that's a huge security risk. Just for fun I installed the Google toolbar for my IE, and there's no option to turn off auto-updating. Great.
