Looks like they're trying to legalise software patenting in the EU again. This could effect everyone in the community as TGC is based in the UK and so the laws will effect them. Everyone should sign the elctronic petition at http://petition.eurolinux.org/index_html?LANG=en

This could mean if you wrote an app to do something (eg fry virtual potatoes) and someone had patented virtual potatoes they could sue you. This law could probably kill the indie devolopment circuit.

I seriously doubt even 311,000 e-signitures will make the people who make these decisions even blink. Send letters-- real letters make people think, online petitions never do.

Are Software Patents already legal in the US?

What he did is already illegal, he infringed other people's copywright. Patenting is different, it mean's we'd have to pay royaltees to the people who invented the technologies we use in our games. Basilcly ths means we'd have to pay royaltees on everything we do.

maybe i should start preparing some patents i thought of having games in which you play from the 1st person and fire a gun y'know

In the beginning, the universe was created...
This made alot of people very angry and it has been widely regarded as a bad idea...

...I really dont see a need for something like that... and it would only cause more damage then good. Seriously cool games could be stoped or if your lucky hindered becuase of this.
