what I would like to do is have a gun that follows my camera around. I dont want to fire it, just walk around a 3d level..
(I will address the collisions later)
my thought was to have a gun bmp instead of a 3ds file, the gun would stay on the screen and the camera would move around as normal.
But the gun sprite settings seems to be wrong.

would it be easier to have a 3ds gun attached to the camera? and if so how would I do it ??? here is what I have now....

Use the darkBASIC tutorials, theres a FPS shooter guide there, it will show you how to fix a gun to the camera.

P4 2.4GHz | 512MB DDR333 RAM | 80GB BarracudaIV | Geforce4 Ti4600 128MB | XP pro SP1

That would be right. the tutorials are also on the darkbasic web site: http://developer.thegamecreators.com/?f=t01/3d_tutorial_index However the 'gun' is a cylinder. If you wanted to use, for example, a .x/3ds model, this would be the code you would use:

obviously your model name/scale would differ, but thats what you wanted isnt it? Also, this method involves using a model, if you want to use a sprite, i remember a FPS game from the codebase which used sprites, though i never bothered reading his code... just played the game
