Hi!
I'm a 3d artist and i'm making a new gamematter models pack so it would be good if anybody says what he would need for his game!

Right now I'm just finishing 2 character special force comando I will animate them to!

Any list of models or post it here would help!

Regards!

Something that you do not see enough of are animals: big cats, horses, birds, hounds, snakes, etc.

One question:
I got a mail from Richard Davey that says I shouldn't make models that are more detailed then 1500 polygons.

I'm asking you guys do you want meshes with some better quality as on todays standard like a Unreal(Splinter Cell)for example model has.?
Or old standard?
Is darkbasic so slow?

Direct x is not the problem becouse Unreal engine is based on it to!
Those characters are around 3000 polys and they are very realistic.

Do you want better meshes or do you want the old fashion meshes who are looking like toys?

Well, the expected answer is BOTH! If I was greedy, I'd say that I'd like to have several levels of detail for each model.

I agree with zircher.
Sometimes the need arises for several(maybe hundreds) of characters to be visible simultaneously and low poly is the only way. Since you are doing animals thier presence might be in herds.
Under normal circumstances high detail is key. If it was up to me and not my processor every model would have a 100 bones and continuously variable facial expressions.

So there is defintely a need for both high detail and high speed models

By the way i would really like to see a wolf and a grizzly bear, or some other aniimal that has the potential to be ferocious.
Thanks
-Billy

You programmers can't code a LOD(Level of Detail) mod that removes veritces?

And i was talking about the characters. Humans the problem is
I have here two very good modeled with 2500 polys with who you could make some prety impressive games like "Splinter Cell" or UT, and when i remove details they look like boxes. In my team my main programmer is using my models who are mostly around 2000 till 3000 polys and the engine is OpenGl based! U can have lot of enemies and the engine works smooth.
You can try the demo here www.fysoftware.com

By the first engine i neaded to make two versions of characters high and low poly but later he managed to make a LOD after that when u go away from the mesh the engine automaticly removes polys!

But i will make two version of models! For u but only on the animals and characters!

how about ship like models not ship like boat but ship like models like on Star Ship Trupers. guns, future like guns, something good
not to future like.(drop ship like halo)

hands for FPS games, cant just run around with a gun floating
in front of you, need some hands.

and what kind of game uses dogs and cats?
those are just a wast of modeling.

EDIT: go to my web sight and look at that model, make some like that.

I dont know how to spell

I'm sure there's a way using memblocks. Just may not come out as pretty as we'd like.

Sims, Zoo Tycoon, hunting games, war games (attack dogs), gladitorial games (big cats), animal sims, any magic game that has summoning, etc.

Almost anyone can make space ships, guns, or mecha. Modelling organic objects like people and animals and then animating them takes skill.

i would prefer it if you don't make non-organic stuff becuase that's pretty easy(but other people may want it )
