Here is a program I converted from an old Amiga utility I programmed many years ago.

Some of you have asked for a simple, easy to use map designer for 2D. Moiré Map allows you to build a screen any size (up to the maximum resolution of your computer) quickly and easily.

A few of the features provided in Moiré Map:

*1000+ By 1000+ pixel size screens.
*8/16/32/64/128/256/512 tile size supported.
*Switch between sprites or static graphics to create your maps.
*Add any picture for the background.
*Built in graphic tiles.
*Import user designed graphic tiles.
*Easy tile editor for placing/deleting your tiles.
*Preview your map automatically from top-down, and 45 degree angles, or side scrolling.
*Export the finished map for use in your final project.

This program can design maps for either top down (flat) or 2D side scrolling games.
If you are designing side scrolling you can use sprites instead of tiles and the program with automatically supply the scrolling code for you.

Go to DolphinSoft for the download.

Hope this helps our 2D newcomers.

I am sorry.... When the computer blew up I forgot all about this post.
I will make sure that I have the link still (as its not on a site I use) and I will post it here. I did put it on my daughters site, but she removed it (!) because she needed the space for her own things.

If you need it in the meantime, I will email you it Jack123.

Reaperman,

Could you email it to me as well. I am creating a 2d dungeon crawler similar to a couple of older games that I dearly loved (Hack an old ASCII dos game and Castle of the Winds very similar game written for win3.1x) I am muddling through a multi level random map generator and thought that this moire might help me with the path verification routines or give me an idea of another way to map.

Thanks

It would be easier to put it for download, so everyone can get it.
It would be easier then e-mailing it to everyone.
