I'm about to atempt to load the patch, but this is like the 3rd time every time I Download the patch for DBPro Some stuff always gets messed up, I'm not talking about saved files, somethings just run differently, like one time it didn't need the CD to run anymore, and I couldn't open it, the only way to open DBPro was to open a file that was alredy saved, the .exe didn't work. another time I could open DBPro but whenever I executed something it went to a black screen for like a second and then went back.

When I install the patch I have no saved files stored, DBPro is not running, and it is fully installed. Why do so many weird things happening? I don't know what version I currently have, so do I have to like get previous versions or could I just go straight to version 5.2?

by the way when I tried the other patches it was a long time ago with patch 4.something I'm going to try 5.2 but I was just wondering if I am doing something wrong so I don't get any more errors.

The CD check is a random thing, don't worry about that.

I tried to install the patch but I can't.

I get an error when trying to install. It says:

"Runtime Error 1512 - Display is not supported by available hardware at line 0"

yes I have DX 9.0.
I am running windows XP - Home Edition
video card: S3 SuperSavage/IXC 1179

By the way how would I find out other info about my video card, like how much memory it has?

Click on the start button, click on run, type in dxdiag, and click on OK.

The first page tells you if you have directx 9.0 or 9.0b.
The Display tab had your card and driver data.

how come every time I see the question asked "Do you have DX 9.0b?" the person usually responds "Yes I have DX 9.0 installed" Arg! As if the "B" doesn't exist or is somehow unimportant! 9.0 is a different build from 9.0a or 9.0b, or 8 or 8.1 and you MUST be running 9.0B for dbp - sorry to rant.

sorry CattleRustler I didn't know there was an a and b version of DX9 I thougth it might have been a typo.

I'm not sure if I have a or b, where it says direct X version it just says 9.0. But in dxdiag it says my DX version is:

9.0 (4.09.0000.0900)

how do I find out which one I have. Also something I have noticed that concerns me is when I check my properties it says I have direct X 9.0 but next to my display driver it has this (DX8)
and I have the latest driver for my video card. Is this bad?

It could also be an invalid resolution (taking up too much memory).

You also might want to check the display proberties and make sure it is in 16 or 32 bit.

You might be stuck with the directx 8.1 versions of dbpro or getting a new card.
