I have a GeForce 3 and it seems to do the Job. If I could afford the Big Bucks I'd by a Radeon 9700. Alot of people seem to have Nvidia Cards because their drivers seem more reliable!

nVidia Quattro4 XGL 900 SLi ... unless you can wait until Feb when the GeForce FX arrives

that isn't just my personal opinion (well maybe a lil)
but they're the best cards used for rendering and can actually run in full 64-bit mode windows ... and trust me thats a hellofa lot faster than any of the "games" cards can produce

What do you do with it?

play games?
make games?
model?

There are different types for different users.

Zooker- NVidia uses a single driver for all their video cards now, and the way they've got it set up, it is far easier for developers, because all the drivers are the same!

AnalSauceMonkey: Check out NVidia's website, they just announced the NV30, Geforce FX. It's bloody amazing, too bad it doesn't come out till next year. But that thing got 200 FPS on quake 3 w/highest resolution (2300x1500 or something like that)... it's amazing.

Play=Geforce or ATI doesn't matter

Make=Keep it low so the rest can follow your framerate*

Model=Definetively 3Dlabs...Just check out the comparison charts, you will get converted.

*I use a P266 Marvel G-200TV for prog and a P667 3dlabs OXYGEN(Wildcat's ancestor)...When I get good performances on both...I'm off to something else...

3dlabs Oxygen is good, but not really for games - especially as it isn't really compatible with DirectX ...
Really for an all rounder on the cheap GeForce4 Mx
For a HighEnd Gamer GeForce4 Ti 4600|480
For a Blend of Games and 3D Quattro4 XGL 600+
For pure graphics TrinityGL

its not likely anyone is gonna get a Trinity here thou, as they're a nice $28,000 each

lol

You'd be surprised how many games still run and have on this card....Plus DX is fully compatible...Half-Life is a good looking in DX than in OGL.

Blittering is FAST,2D over 3D and high resolution textures plus many nice effects but, like I said,it's for modeling and rendering...I'm getting the New VP Wildcat it's so cheap.

OGL based game run FAST...Quake3,Shogo(built-in drivers),,Jedi Outcast Max Payne.

I'd call them,an experienced grand-father of GFX.

If you want to play more games than you render, check out the FireGL series from ATI.

Perhaps its the setup... I had one a few years back and the thing seem'd to hate DirectX games, always brought up an error that it couldn't use HAL.

I'll have to checkout the VP Wildcat, last time i checked the series it underran against my current setup.

FireGL are just a plain waste of shelf space and always have been ... I can't believe they sell them for as much as they do they're do damn'd unstable it'll make you want to cry.

Personally I want a Trinity, I don't think there is card alive that can touch it - just like its predessor the Video Toaster

Well put it this way,I've had one for 4 years and I'm just about to change it...Plus I never had any issues with DB which suggests the Wildcat will make me totally drool...

ya know i'm not sure...
i got it in '95 so that might help lol
I'm not knocking the card they're great for modelling systems very nippy, just never found it very cooperative when it came to games - or the Windows9x Operating systems lol
