I know This has probably been asked before in one form or another, but i searched and couldn't find what i needed to know (most of the answers related to milkshape )

I need to know how to texture a complex model(e.g. character...)...beyond just slapping one texture on the whole thing...i have GMax, LithUnwrap, Jasc Paint Shop Pro 8(trial), and Milkshape...if that will help any...(i use gmax for modeling...i just use milkshape for converting ).......so if a have a model that i made in GMax how do i "UV" texture it?

Thanks in advance!

[edit] i'm not asking how to make textures or models, just how to combine them

[edit2] if you pointed me to a good tutorial i would be more then happy!

Try the uv unwrap function on the modifiers roll out. could only get it to work once a model already had a uv map. So get some tutorials and have a go...Hope this helps.

i dont knwo how to do it in gmax / lithunwrap. but in Lightwave if you just select the polys you want mapped and then create a new UV map. this can be done for as many parts of the model as you want. maybe Gmax can do some thing similiar

thanks! one problem is that in gmax i've uv textured a model and when i export it i get a
Quote: "there was not a one to one correpondence between texture vertices and true vertices. UV map may contain errors."
error...

[edit] and when i put the model that i textured in GMax into DBPro it is a texturless blob

Okay i got it figured out ...i thought that if i textured a model in gmax...that the model would carry it's texture into DBPro, but it just carried the UV map so i have to texture it in DBPro and it will use the UV map that i set up in gmax
