I have been trying different models in DBP. So far I have not found out what drops the frame rate the most. Is it the number of objects? The size of objects? The texure sizes? Maybe something to do with poly counts? The reason I ask is that everyone tells me that it is the poly counts. I have found this to be not necessarily true. In places on my map I have had the same frame rate on anywhere from 1000 to 5000 polys on screen. I have had 60 fps on 5000 polys and I have had 110 fps on 5000 polys. I have also had 210 fps on 1000 polys and 54 fps on 1000 polys. I am using the statistic(1) command in DBP for my tests. I have even played demos that report around 5000 polys on screen and I get around 230 fps. All this testing is with nothing in the program but loading objects and controling camera with arrow keys. Nothing to lag but the graphics. All my testing has been by increasing the poly counts by loading more models because I don't have any really high polyclount models. I have had 1512 objects loaded at once but not on the screen at the same time. Thank You.
