this is my firt creature attempt... not sure what it is or what it does.
kind of high poly but still good i think. 1122 polys total, 500 in the head. will look a lot better when textured

The influence for this model came from tOrEn aTkiNsOn,

Neat critter, is plastic gray the intended texture or will it get a different skin later on?

wbarret 26 can you tell me how to achieve the same style moddeling outcome by using truespace 4.2?

to be honest i have very little knowledge of truespace. My modeling is done primarily by placing points or splines along key curves, in this model that would be the back, tail, arms and legs. I would then either use primitives or simply placing individual points to fill in the rest of the area. So basically i just get the outline of the objects profile and work from there. hope that helps

The low poly cars are usualy done with splines and then connected. the higher poly cars usually require more detail. sometimes its necessary to place individual vetices and then connect to the rest of the mesh. An example is the headlight on the BMW X5, the shape is so unnatural that placing the poins by hand was the only alternative. However to create an accurate car model a backdrop is required. Creatures you can just make up as you go along due to thier very organic shape.

ok i will have a try sometime at moddeling something how long does it usually take you to make one of your low poly cars or a creature once you have the full idea of it.

a very low poly car takes about 30minutes to an hour. the BMW X5 took about 2 hours. It really depends on how much attention you spend on details. The creature took about an hour and a half, most of the time spent on the head. Just keep in mind when working on a car you only model half and then mirror.
