Wotcha, folks.

First of all, can someone explain (in laymans terms) the difference between Images, Sprites & Bitmaps?

Secondly, I can check two sprites colliding, but is there a way to 'mask' the sprite so that the collision is only detected where you want it, and not the dimensions of the actual image?

To be honest i don't really know what the differince between an image, sprite and bitmap is but i tend to do this:



As for the image collision. SPRITE HIT or SPRITE COLLISION might work. i'm not sure.

If you want anything pixel perfect collision you will have to code it yourself or look in the codebase there are a couple of examples there.
