is it possible for a matrix to screw up if it touches another matrix.........My water matrix is all messed up and my ground matrix is laying verticlely. I

The two should not conflict with each other. But, it sounds like you're laying one on top of another. This could result in a Z-buffer rendering problem. Unfortunately, 'screwed up' is not a very technical description of the problem. So, that's just a guess. Try playing with the camera range command and see if that fixres it.
