What the heck? How did I end up back here...? Hi all. Mattman still around? Kronoman? Rich? yellow? Kentarri? Ahh..good to be..home? No, that's wrong,

How do you decide a game name? I can't for the life of me come up with some good and original, and yet still represents my game..

Normally, I translate words into japanese, and then combine the fun words I find .. but that ends up with something unprouncable..

The game is set in a mystical fantasy reality, where daybreak is never to come. Always in the night, swampy murky lands, trees as tall as the Red Wood trees, with a famous battle between two foes. Right now I'm going with 'Grak', but, I've heard complaints from a few people, so I'm trying to see if theres anything better.

Yellow is still around, but he's changed his name to MikeS.

[EDIT]
Game name ideas:
- Eternal Night
- Never Day
- *Dark Days Last Forever* <- I like this best.
- (Dark Day Forever) Root of above.

A book? I hate book. Book is stupid.

Damn....He's more machine now than man, twisted and evil. He ceased to be yellow, and became Darth Va-..uhh, MikeS.

you decide a game name on several factors;
content / characters / story

Final Fantasy - It is the 'ultimate'/'last' fantasy adventure as it deals with the theory of Ghia the planets soul that controls life/death (hence why it is the last Fantasy).

Jakk & Daxster - Cause those are the main characters

Unreal Tournament - The first game was named after the engine as the graphics were described as awesomely 'unreal', Tournament was added because it was an online game aimed for tournament play.

Tomb Raider - Cause Lara runs around in Tombs all day (or atleast did in the original)

Grandia - the first game was the first long game ever; 80hrs of gameplay (for 1994 that was amazing) so it was a Grand adventure

Play with forumla a bit and i'm sure you'll come up with a good name; and remember until you release your first real candidate you can always change it.

another thing you could do is write down tons of words on a sheet of paper that match your game... examples: dark, night, evil, ect.
and keep on randomly taking two and put them together or change a word a little until you get one you like. (this is what i do)

Make use of the thesaurus in Word. Invaluable.

Signature? No! Obsolete! These days it's all about chip and pin!

Yes. I have a giant, giant list. The problem is, there isn't a heavy storyline... (Which I need to work on) And a name with nothing relating to the game..meh. Not nice.

Any methods involved?

I got the name because of this- your in a group trying to kill a group of assasins so there's the A- and well the C corporal, well, this group tries to kill military men, and you have to stop it- and P, they're a program! So, I hope I kinda helped

Nuit d'éternité. Translated from french it means Night of Eternity(But it loses somthing in the translation). The game sure sounds neat.

Yes, Raven. I forgot how fun this place is I no longer have to worry about how I compose my messages, because they're bound to be better then most of the other people's.. YAY!

I'm going to do it off of story, yet, alot of games on the market go nothing by the story. Example: Dark Cloud..

i like to name things using translations from other langauges. even for characters in my writings i like to use german and latin mostly, but occasionally i will use afrikaans or greek or some other random langauge i choose. go to http://www.freelang.net/dictionary to download a great computer dictionary, and you can download translation dictionaries for almost every langauge. great resource for naming things.

oh, wow. insignificantpunks.cjb.net. we like orange treble clef notes, just for future reference.

best thought of naturally, don't think at all, you'll get a nice name if it's made naturally, don't rush it

a title will just pop in there as you go with time , don't stress it too much, it'll become a meaningless title, a title with meaning comes naturally

Heart of Darkness was also a long time in development, 2 disc playstation game that ended up being way too late and was just a 2d platformer with nice cinematics and pretty animated graphics.
