i would say that billy bouncer is one of the best so far and is badly underrated. strutt your stuff shows good coding but is really let down on graphics and gameplay.

I should have changed my signature when asked

(I hope its alright to post a few pics)

I know its selfish to nominate yourself, but if it wasn't for patch 4's amazing backwards compatability (read: not) then it could have been this game:

now that is one hell of a game

Although your game looks pretty good i guess david(Read: Bloody excellent) don't suppose you have a download anywhere? wouldn't mind trying it out.

This made alot of people very angry and it has been widely regarded as a bad idea...

Sorry, the only download I had was a bloated, early version. Since P4 / my new gfx card came along it won't even run. I was annoyed to say the least. 3000 lines down the drain!

David: I've successfuly converted a ~2000 line program from DBC to DBPro, so am fairly aware of many of the little oddities that need to be taken in to account with DBPro, perhaps you'd like me to take a look at the code? Can't garuantee I'll be able to get it working, or even that I'll have time to look at it for very long, but it'd certainly be a shame for so much hard work to go to waste and it looks like an impressive game so I'd be willing to put in whatever effort I can spare.

I quite like that Tron lightcycles game, that's probably the one that I've played the most apart from my own. There's always the StarWraith series too, but I've only played the demo's.

I keep meaning to try that Strut Your Stuff, but never got around to downloading it (IIRC it's pretty big).

Okay, I'll package it up tonight and reply back here. Be warned, it's BIG and very organised (about 30 subroutines + includes IIRC) plus it uses BSPs which were the main bits that broke.

Of course, how could I forget? Strutt was inspirational, quite literally. Merc 2 was based on it.

My 2 top games are definitly:

1. Skycars - Graphics are very good, but not amazing, but gameplay and lastability more than make up for lack of snazzy 3D effects.

2. DUO - Greate gameplay, addictive and excellent graphics. Definitly a showcase piece.

Trying is the first step towards faliure.

as far as actual playability(fun!) my top two are..

1. D-U-O....Great game! smooth interface. and good graphics

2. Bomber-Warrior...Really good for it's multi player capability...(it's my favourite game to play when a friend is over)

[edit] just read hammish's post...i liked skycars a lot also(was quite addicted for awhile)

Did someone make a DB bomberman? Ive just played DUO for the first time and its really good - great showcase for what DBPro is capable of. The presentation is absolutely fantastic - people could learn a lot from it.

After all the fuss, surely Equillibrium would have been the biggest DB game, if it had been finished ie. not moved over to BB.

My nomination would have to StarWraith. Although that bouncer game was class.

Cheers

I am 99% probably lying in bed right now... so don't blame me for crappy typing

DB[P] Game I've most played:
Firewall
DB[P] Game with best/smoothest grafics:
RoomWar
DB[P] Game that I've told my non-programming friends to download the most: Rosewall Racrer
DB[P] showcase entry that got me to buy DBP:
Equillibrium.

These are my entries, although there have been a lot that I love and just can't think of.

One of my favorite DB games is Alien Gunslinger

http://darkbasicpro.thegamecreators.com/?m=showcase_view&i=187

It is the only DarkBasic game that I have actually 100% completed. (except for my own...)

Town Hall toaster for DBC

Sunday Drivers for DBP
If the Sunday Drivers creator is out there how did you think up that name(inspiration).

Duo is the best so far in my mind, and evidence that big teams dont make the big games.

Most promising demo was DarkGT, which was well ahead of everyone else at the time. Sure I now have a game that is quite comparable, but i'm doing it on much faster computers with better tools.

Whilst i'd like to thank Megaton for his kind words on ASpace i'd just like him to know that ASpace was just a demo and is unlikely to go any further so sadly it is not the future of the genre. :/

Thanks also to Pincho for the Asteroids nomination , even though Transfusion is supposed to be my current flagship I think Asteroids is actually the better game. Thankfully I do have some new stuff in the pipeline so hopefully next time this thread comes around Banshee will have a bigger presence .

God created the world in 7 days, but we're still waiting for the patch.

Thanks for the DUO mentions guys

Tricky one this. A lot of DBPro games look great but lack that extra special something in the gamplay stakes.

Anyway for my money Skycars (pure, addictive gameplay), OIE (looks like a PC game, playability like an Amiga game....and that's a good thing), Asteroids (oldie but I haven't played a better 2D shoot-em-up) and the game I've wasted too much time on most recently.....Wordtris (brilliantly simple).

Fog - I also nominate DUO as the best DBP game I've seen and played! There's nothing like playing that at night and getting the retro feeling. Thanks for the WordTris mention!

I also liked the Twintrix --- that's very addicting and my girlfriend even likes it. The music is very cool.

Another one that was cool was one that called Giga-(something, my memory escapes me). It was entered in the Alien competition and it had this cool feature where the entire level would rotate 90 degrees. That was a blast.
