the game isn't quite a fps, but its close..., i was wondering if any one had any suggestions on how to make a good melee weapon in a fps style game. i have been working on it a while, and nothing seems to work.

Do you mean hitting your enemy with your gun or using a seperate weapon as a melee hitter. I'm assuming it would be the second one. Say for exaple a black Jack like in thief. You would get a model of it(or make one). Have a hitting animation or use a sequence of moving the object forward and back. For the gun hiting you would wnt an animation or y rotating say a rifle to make it a side thrust like in Halo. Or turning the gun around and moving it forward so you hit with the back of the gun. Tell me more and I may be able to supply source code. Hope I helped.

i guess i wasn't very clear on what i want, i want some help with the coding part, like collision decting, i have the model, and it is animated, i just need to figure how to tell when and what monster it its.
