VU Games has released them both for free!

http://www.fileplanet.com/

Tribes 1 was the very first multiplayer only FPS, and Tribes 2 was the first FPS to involve vehicles. This is VERY good news for cheap gamers like myself.

Grr, I wait in the queue, I wait for it to download and then it says some rubbish about the cache file being the wrong size and that I need to delete it and redownload it (not to mention rewaiting in the queue). Grrr!

Guess I'll just take a gamble that the next issue of my PC mag will have them on the demo CD.

On Sierra's site it says that a particular magazine and FilePlanet are the only ones to have the demo. I don't remember which gamer magazine it was. I didn't even try to wait in that queue, it was an hour and a half estimate to download a 560mb file! Arg! I'll be trying to pick the mag up when I see it on the newsstands though.

Yeah, I'm also going to wait for the magazine. Hope it has Tribes 1 and Tribes 2 together--- that would be an early Christmas present

Edit: There's no wait on any of the servers atm, it's good to be in a sleeping time zone.

Tribes 1 has vehicles(A light transport a heavy transport and attack plane). Plus lots of very cool mods. Plus placeing the turrets is fun.(Mods give you so much more items like placeing walls to placeing fortresses in the field to jail cells very cool).

AMD Atherlon 2400+ XP, 380 DDr memeory, ATI Radeon 9000 64 DDR, Windos XP home edition.

I don't like fileplanet...and there's another one but i can't remember it's name right now. The reason for that is because they fake their download line numbers! I once had to wait 10 minutes for a file that i couldn't find anywhere else. There was a full line of 250 people on 3 servers, even although it had only been downloaded 300 times in the past 6 years. Not bleeding likely. Anyone else noticed that? It gets on my nerves. Sure they have to get paid somehow, but normally advertising should suffice. Correct me if i'm wrong though.

It isn't one server per file you know, they have a bunch of files on a number of different servers and reguardless of which file is being downloaded, there's a person in the queue downloading it (or waiting to). The queue just shows how many people are trying to download from that server (even though they could each be downloading a different file).

Ahhh I have too many games now that I have barely played! Need for Speed Underground, 007 Everything or Nothing, SSX 3, etc. etc. I will download Tribes II tonight and play online hopefully with our new broadband connection.

While I'm normally against peer to peer file sharing because of the abuse possible, I downloaded the PTC client for bit torrent and got the 500+ meg Tribes 2 file in only a few hours. I even stayed online for a few extra hours to help other people that were downloading the file since fileplanet has blocked access to it.

They're both allowed for online play. All the major community sites linked from the official ones publicly advertise for people to download the files and play them. You might be being a bit hyper about the EULA .

Fileplanet's blocked access to T2 cuz they're run out of CD-Keys! They're gonna put it back up again soon though.

It doesn't matter how many people are downloading a specific file, it's the servers that the queues are for. Each server holds a lot more than just one file.
