i can answer question 3.

Maya is better in the features it has thats why it is used by the world best in stuff like lord of the rings movies or james bond video games. But i don't know about simplicity of use.

Its not really down to which is "better", as they both do very similar jobs (ie. produce 3D graphics).
Really, it just comes down to which interface you find more intuitive.....having used both 3DS and Maya, I personally prefer 3DS, buts thats just me. You can produce great stuff with either, so its really down to which you prefer. Get skilled in either and you'll be set to produce whatever you like.

1. Yes with a plugin check there site for sdk
2. Can recomment any high end 3d modeler there all basically the same except for there interfaces, you should really download demos of everything out there and see what your most confortable with before buying such high priced software.
3. Depends on the person really and what interface your most confortable with, personaly i find maya's interface easier then max's.

1. Yes
2. Not going to recommend software to someone is more than likely going to pirate it forcing my premiums up
3. See Answer 2

i use max and Blender and about the answer
" Not going to recommend software to someone is more than likely going to pirate " is way out you can get max for 250-300$ if you are a student and that somthing most people can afford if they love the program.

a) Max Student Edition is $500
b) Even with the student versions people STILL pirate
c) There isn't a Student version of Maya, the cheapest version is Builder at $2,500

So I am going to stand by what i've said;

AthlonXP 2500+ | 256MB DDR PC2700 | GeForce FX 5200 44.04 | DirectX 9.0 | Audigy2 | Crystal Clean OS

I also agree with Raven on this. If you're asking what Maya is, chances are it isn't going to help you, therefore pirating isn't going to help.

Tools like Maya are for professionals or experienced artists(3D and 2D), sorry to get your hopes down.

Try out milkshape, truespace, doga, animator, jtedit, and some other lower end packages you'll find around here.

But to still anwser your question.

1.) No
2.) Only if you're very experienced in the 3D field.
3.) Personal Prefrence. Read 2.
