Hi, I have recently bought The 3D Game Maker.

Is there any tips on how to use it?

Your name suggests something professional, if you plan to sell games you make with 3d Gamemaker you're going to need to fork over somewhere between $100-$500.

personally i find those licenses very amusing.

o who would pay £30 for a game made using T3DGM
o by spending £50 + 1month of work you ca get something at the same standad as a game in T3DGM!

Just to add to the confusion.

If you look at the top of this page, you should see a menu bar, about half-way across you should find the "game models" category.

In response to the person who asked why someone would spend whatever on a game when for a little more and a month of work he could produce one himself. Geez, for a month of work I could buy out the shelfs in my local game shop. It's always cheaper to buy someone else's work because the cost is spread over a bunch of buyers. There are obviously other rewards to doing the work yourself, which brings us all here.

if you have the latest version of T3DGM than you have all the models available that are designed for use by T3DGM. It claims to be able to include third party models (static .X only I think), using the older DirectX 7 format .... very obsolete now that DX9 with shader support is out. If you really really want models, you'll most likely need to make them. It should not take much more than a month to learn how, but maybe a few months more to get good at it.

There are lots of free models out there. Check the 3D forum for more information. So what made you get T3DGM? I played with the demo and thought better about it. Thats what demos are for... try before you buy. GMaker is better than T3DGM but is still too restrictive for me. I bought it anyway because I use the media from the site with PB. Also, the sprite editor that comes with GMaker is good too. You should have waited for the FPSC to be released.

On a side note:
Any DBPro user can make you a FPS kit in a few hours....
it would do...

1 - load HL maps that you create using ValveHammer
2 - Load critters
3 - let you walk around and shoot

things that might take awhile:
traps
doors
health
spells
effects
multiple weapons

But, T3DGM did not have those either

the scenes in T3DGM are "special" ....
The editor on my website is Magic World and is not my software. I have a link to the authors website on my website. If you wish to DL, it would be from that site. MW is really easy to use, but is designed for DBC and has nothing to do with T3DGM.

Another level editor you might want to checkout is Level Maker from the DBC showcase site. It creates .x files as a level and imports them into DBC. Not sure what would happen if you tried these in T3DGM ....

In the full version of T3DGM, what is the format for the scenes? Are they .X files or a custom format? There is another "free" 3DGM available .... Garage Games released Tribes 1 & 2 .... If you can locate a level editor for tribes you can do prety good mods
